FRIENDLY SOCIETIES

The wellbeing of friendly society members throughout New Zealand was discussed at the annual meeting of the Dominion council of Friendly Societies in Wellington on Saturday. Mr W. G. Carpenter, who had been secretary of the council for 18 years, tendered his resignation and representatives of various orders expressed their appreciation for the work he had done. The 1967 meeting will also be held in Wellington. Officers elected were: President, Mr J. F. Jobson (1.0. R. Wellington); vicepresidents, Messrs J. Porter (V.A.O.D. Canterbury), P. M. O’Rourke (HA.C.B.S. Wellington); secretary, Mr S. E. Browne (A.O.F. Canterbury); auditor, Mr E. H. Bragins (1.0.0. F. Canterbury); general committee, Messrs E. H. Bragins (L0.0.F.), H. M. Gourlay (M.U.1.0.0.F.), J. Porter (V.A.0.D.), J. L. Paulden (P.A.), H. M. Tomlinson (S. of T.), N. Williamson (H.A.C.8.5.), W. G. Carpenter (1.0. R. and S. E.
