FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A complex trough of low pressure covers New Zeland. Forecast: Canterbury.—Light or moderate variable winds, south-westerlies predominating and freshening later about Banks Peninsula; cloudy, with scattered rain developing; cool, with fog patches night and morning. Outlook: scattered rain. Marlborough and Nelson.—Winds mainly light to moderate and variable; southerlies about Cook Strait and the Kaikoura Coast; mainly cloudy, with scattered rain; rather cool. Outlook: scattered rain. Buller and Westland. —Light to moderate easterlies predominating; cloudy and cool; scattered rain chiefly in the north and about the ranges. Outlook: probably clearing.
