C.O.R.S.O. MONEY

Boys’ Calls Suspected

The C.0.R.5.0. freedom from hunger campaign will be held next Saturday with a house-to-house collection; but two boys in Wyon street, Linwood, yesterday afternoon began a collection, presumably with their own benefit rather than C.O.R-S.O.'s in mind.

A woman was suspicious when the boys called on a Sunday without collectors’ badges and tins. She telephoned C.0.R.5.0. and Mr G. H. Coley, the area supervisor, got in touch with the police. A patrol car was sent to the area, but no trace of the boys was found, and it could not be ascertained if they had collected any money. “This is one of those things that happens from time to time,” Mr Coley said, “and although householders are warned of the day of the collection and that collectors will have official badges, unfortunately there may always be a credulous few who will give to anyone asking." It was unfortunate that the Post Office had distributed envelopes for the appeal before last week-end, he said.
