BIGGER RATE COLLECTION
Tawera County Road Work Notice of motion to strike a rate of 1 1-Sd in the £ on the capital valuation was given at a recent meeting of the Tawera County Council. Last year’s rate was 1 3-Bd, but, as new valuations apply this year in the county, the proposed lower rate figure will produce £l3OO more in actual rates.
The extra amount will be collected to enable the council to take advantage of extra assistance from the National Roads Board for an accelerated reading improvement programme consequent upon the pending amalgamation with Malvern County.
