BRITAIN’S THREE E.L.D.O. POINTS
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright > PARIS, June 10. Britain said last night she would stay in Europe’s space project on three conditions, according to an official.
Britain and her six partners—France, West Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Australia struggled for five hours at a Ministerial conference in
Paris yesterday to find a formula which would meet Britain’s objections to E.L.D.O.’s soaring costs. Britain’s three conditions were reported to be: (1) There must be a re-distri-
bution of costs. (2) A ceiling for costs must be fixed so that there is no wild escalation. (3) Machinery must be set up for reviewing costs at in-teiA-als.
The prospects of an agreement were opened up when Britain’s Air Minister, Mr F. W. Mulley, told the conference that his government would consider sympathetically proposals for reducing Britain’s share of the costs.
