Oil Exploration Workers’ Award

WELLINGTON, June 8.
An average increase of 4id an hour is included in an award for oil exploration workers issued by the Arbitration Court todSy. The award pays maximum rates to catheadmen and derrickmen of 8s B{d (86.875 cents) an hour. After six months’ service with the same company there is a service bonus of 12s 6d (1.25) a week. The. award is retrospective to May 30.
Sir Joseph Ward has been reappointed Governor-General reappointed GovernorGeneral’s nominee on the Canterbury University Council, a post he has held since 1959. From 1934 till then he was a member elected by the graduates. He is thus the longest serving member of the council.
