GUS WORKS WELL

"The Press” Special Service LEVIN. Gua and Mukupai were the best workers at Levin yesterday morning when trials were completed for the first day of the Manawatu Racing Club's winter meeting. Work was done 20 feet out on the course proper, which was heavy.

Gus (W. D. Skelton) and Mukupai (K. A. Aitken) covered five furlongs in Imin 5 4-ssec, the last half-mtle in 53sec and the final three furlongs in 41 2-ssec. Mukupai, on the outer, was slightly in front on the line. The stablemates L’Arc (W. D. Skelton) and Fremont (K. A. Aitken) went boldly over half a mile in 52 3-ssec, the final three furlongs in 39 4-ssec. This was the fastest trial of the morning and L’Arc had a slight advantage on the line.
