POLICE SIT EXAMS

Seventy-eight policemen from the Christchurch police district on Wednesday began sitting examinations to qualify for promotion. The examinations, which continued yesterday were held at the central police station. Five are sitting the commissioned officers’ examinations, 33 the senior-sergeant and 40 the sergeant examinations. There are 323 policemen in the Christchurch district. More than 800 policemen and women sat the examinations throughout New Zealand.
