KIWI TRADE SYMBOL
Suggestion Welcomed (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 9. The Manufacturers’ Federation has welcomed a suggestion by Federated Farmers that the dairy industry use a kiwi symbol on its products. The suggestion was made by the dairy section of Federated Farmers. The president of the Manufacturers’ Federation, Mr J. R. Maddren, today said that the federation welcomed and endorsed the suggestion. He said manufacturers also welcomed a report by Mr Parsons that the kiwi was widely known in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. The federation had adopted a stylised kiwi symbol to identify New Zealand-made products. “The federation will cooperate wholeheartedly in any extension of the use of the kiwi as a national export symbol,” jsaid Mr Maddren.
