Cream Deliveries
Sir, —My milkman has left me a note advising that the cream just delivered will be the last in quarter-pints. 1 would like to know who made this decision. Is it an idea of my vendor to raise his gallonage, or is it an edict of the Milk Board? It would also be interesting to know the reason for the withdrawal of quarter-pints. Judging by the service the consumer gets today, the baker will shortly be eliminating quarter loaves, and sausages will be in minimam wraps of 21b.—Yours, etc., HOUSEHOLD OF ONE.
June 2, 1966. [The secretary of the Christchurch Metropolitan Milk Board (Mr C. S. Bowie) says: “This correspondent is requested to supply the Metropolitan Milk Board’s office with full details so that the matter can be fully investigated. The board has received no information that the milk treatment stations have ceased to bottle quarter pints of cream.”]
