Military Service In China
Sir,—Mr Alley implies that, unlike China, we have “ruthless businessmen handing out raw deals to the public.” We also have bus-drivers, whose leaders recently enjoyed a Communist-sponsored trip to China, doing the same thing at Christmas and Easter. The lesser of two parallel evils, ruthless individuals and communism, is the former, the price we pay for the liberty of the individual, and we neither explode atom bombs in the atmosphere nor vociferate against peace moves between Malaysia and Indonesia. —Yours, etc., WORTH IT. June 9, 1966.
