Building Sold For £17,000

The building of Messrs Batson and Valentine Ltd., at 574-576 Colombo street, was sold for £17,000 at public auction yesterday. The sale was held by Ford and Hadfield Ltd., the auctioneer being Mr Denys Chapman. The weatherboard building on a section of 26.1 perches has shop premises of 3650 sq. ft and a mezzanine floor of approximately 1000 sq. ft. There is also another building of 2500 sq. ft adjoining the property. The initial bid was £12,000 and there were 10 bids of £5OO.

A five-roomed cottage on a section of 19 perches at 130 rue Jolie, Akaroa, was sold for £lO7O. The cottage was offered on account of the esate of Trevor Winton Poole by Mr E. G. Keenan. The opening bid was £6OO. There were eight bids of £5O, two of £25, and two of £lO.
