Mr Marshall In Washington

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) WASHINGTON, June 7. Mr J. R. Marshall, New Zealand’s deputy Prime Minister, had an hour’s conference with President Johnson today. It was understood that the principal subject was Vietnam, and New Zealand's contribution to the Allied effort there. Earlier today Mr Marshall had discussed the same issue with Mr William P. Bundy, the assistant Secretary of State for Far Eastern Affairs. Mr Marshall has been in Washington since Sunday night and has interviewed United States and other officials on a wide range of subjects covering economic relations between New Zealand and the United States, capital investment in New Zealand and world trade problems, including the Kennedy round of tariff negotiations now going on in Geneva.

Mr Marshall was guest of honour at a luncheon given by the Ambassador, Mr G. Laking, at the embassy today.
