DEMANDS BY DRIVERS
Allowances, More Pav •/ (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 8.
Petrol started flowing again today into Auckland garages, but the 120 petrol-waggon drivers who stopped work for 27 hours from yesterday morning have threatened further stoppages next week. The secretary of the Northern Drivers' Union, Mr G. H. Anderson, said the men would work normal hours for the rest of this week, but would hold a meeting at 7.30 a.m. next Monday to decide what further action they should take to win their demands for extra pay and better conditions. The drivers are seeking wage margins above the award, extra payments for the carriage of dangerous goods, a footwear allowance, increased shift allowances, sick pay, variation of travelling allowances and three weeks’ holiday at average rates of pay- .
The' stoppage, which came at the end of the long weekend, did not result in rationing of petrol to motorists.
