Worcestershire, the English county cricket champion and joint leader in this year’s competition, was dismissed for 87 by Warwickshire yesterday and suffered its first defeat since June last year. Worcestershire collapsed against the fast-medium bowler, J. Bannister, who took five wickets for 10 runs in 44 deliveries and finished with five for 32. Results:

At Worcester.—Warwickshire 193 and 199 beat Worcestershire 138/9 and 87 by 167 runs. Warwickshire 12 points. At Tunbridge Wells.—Sussex 200/8 and 159 lost to Kent 226/6 and 137/5 by five wickets.
