Election Report Ordered
The New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association council has ordered its deputy chairman, Mr G. S. Brockett, to prepare a report on the election of Mr A. J. Donaldson, the chairman of the council, as section manager of the Empire Games swimming team. Mr Brockett, who was acting chairman of the council meeting that elected Mr Donaldson, will submit his report to the next council meeting. At a council meeting held in Christchurch earlier this week, letters were received from six provincial swimming associations protesting at the method whereby Mr Donaldson was elected, and at the council’s acceptance of his nomination when it was not supported by an association.
The six associations were Bay of Plenty, Otago, Auckland, Waikato, Hawke's BayPoverty Bay and NelsonMarlborough. They have asked the council to quash Mr Donaldson's appointment and hold another election excluding Mr Donaldson from the ballot. All discussion on the letters was in committee.
