Arbitrator For Honey Dispute

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 8. Mr T. R. Sussex, managing-direc-tor of Phillipps and Impey, Ltd., and a former president of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, will act as arbitrator in the dispute between the Government and Springfield Apiaries Ltd., of Rotorua.

Mr Sussex, a member of the Auckland City Council, will determine the amount of compensation due to the company for the seizure by the Health Department in 1963 of honey worth £22,000. The honey was seized after a Government scientist made tests for poison. The department has since admitted the tests were not completely reliable. As a result of the seizure

the company claims it lost £l5 000. Mr J. D. Dillon, the solicitor for the company, said today that Mr Sussex had been suggested as arbitrator by the company and accepted by the Crown Law Office.

Both parties have agreed to accept the outcome of the inquiry a date for which has not yet been fixed. It is likely to be held in Rotorua some time in August.
