Own Troops Killed

(N.Z. Press Assn —Copyright > SAIGON, June 8. American artillery fire killed five United States paratroopers and wounded another five in a battlefield, accident, military spokesmen said today.

The accident occurred on Monday when a company of United States Army airborne troops were fighting about 300 miles north of Saigon. The Americans called for artillery support: three United States shells landed on the American positions. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Mrs Valentino Dead.—Mrs Rudolf Valentino, former wife of the silent-film idol, has died. Mrs Valentino, known as Natacha Rambova, designer and dancer, died in hospital on Sunday, aged 69. —Pasadena, June 8.
