Capacity Of 250

<N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright? SEATTLE. (Washington), June 8. The Boeing Company said yesterday that it had designed a new, larger supersonic transport plane capable of carrying from 250 to 300 passengers, at three times the speed of sound. Earlier Boeing designs had a passenger capacity of “more than 200.” The Boeing vice-president, Mr Maynard Pennell, said the new design uses sweep wings. The Lockheed Aircraft Corporation, Boeing's competitor, uses a fixed delta wing in its design. Mr Pennell said that details would be made public later He said the response by airlines to the improved version “has been encouraging.”
