DAMAGE PUT AT £65,000

Grain Store Fire (N.Z. Prsss Association) GORE, June 7. Assessors today put the damage to the Gore grain store of the Southland Farmers’ Co-operative Association, Ltd., at £65,000.

Fire broke out in the store last night and the first estimates of damage were as high at £70,000. The fire apparently started to the office of the building, which was gutted. The first bay of the grain and seed store was also badly damaged, and the flames spread along the roof to the second and third bays. A fireproof wall saved the fertiliser store.
