Czechoslovakia’s ruling Communist Party has replaced nearly half of its elite central committee with new, young members as it enters on a new era of Socialist development. But 62-year-old Mr Antonin Novotny, the party chief who has survived the Stalinist and Khrushchev eras, is still at the party helm after its thirteenth congress closed in Prague yesterday. Mr Novotny, who Is President of Czechoslovakia, was re-elected to the new central committee.
Nearly half of the committee are under 45 years old.
