Taupo Inquiries Extend Overseas
GVtw Zealand Press Association> AUCKLAND, June 7. Inquiries in Australia, Britain and Canada, and almost every town in the North Island have been made by detectives investigating the poisonings at Taupo during Easter.
The case had reached a stage of slow, steady, routine inquiry, Detective-Superin-tendent M. J. Ross said today. All the guests at the gatherings at Tauhara, near Taupo, where the poisonings are believed to have taken place,
have been asked to list the foods they ate. The police in Australia, Britain and Canada have been asked to obtain lists from the overseas guests at the functions.
Mr Ross said replies to the questionnaire were not completed. The police are also waiting for the final reports on samples gathered at Tauhara. Detectives are completing a check of every poison register in the North Island to try to find the source of the poison.
David Charles Davison, aged 11, son of Mr and Mrs R. K. Davison, of Remuera, died on April 18 and Mrs Majorie Edna EUingham, aged 54, of Roseneath, Wellington, died in hospital 11 days later.
