Undertakers’ Prices

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 7.

The Associate Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Shelton, said today that his department would not hold an inquiry into the cost of funerals because individuals bereaved had no hesitation in making their own complaints if they felt they had been overcharged. Mr A. J. Faulkner (Opp., Roskill) had asked the Minister if he shared the “widespread concern” at the cost of funerals and if he would make a survey to find out if prices charged had an acceptable relationship with the cost of the services rendered.

I “My department is always i prepared to investigate chargles of excessive cost,” Mr Shelton said.
