Australia’s world distance running champion, R. G. Clarke, will try to regain the 5000 metres record next Saturday in the San Diego invitational track meeting. United Press International reported. Competing against Clarke will be G. Roelants, of Belgium, holder of the world’s 3000 metres steeplechase re-

cord, A. Cooke, another Australian, and the Olympic 10,000 metres champion, W. Mills, of San Diego. He holds six world records for distances ranging from three miles to 20 kilometres. His monopoly was broker, by K. Keino, of Kenya, who covered the 5000 metres in z\uckland in 13min 24.25ec. Clarke had held the record at 13min 25.8 sec.
