BRAZILIAN GOVERNOR

Removal By Govt. (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright; RIO DE JANEIRO, June 6. Mr Adhemar de Barros, deposed as Governor of Brazil’s Sao Paulo State in a surprise move by the Central Government last night, left his palace early today. Reports here said he might join his wife in the United States.

Mr de Barros was deposed and stripped of political rights for 10 years by a decree signed by President Humberto Castelo Branco.

The decree named Vice-Gov-ernor Laudo Matel in his place. The move came after the top-level National Security Council yesterday studied charges that the 66-year-old Mr de Barros was plotting to block the election of the ruling National Renewal Alliance’s candidate, Abreu Sodre, in the September elections for the Governorship.
