QUEBEC’S POLL

Liberals Ousted (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MONTREAL, June 6. The National Union Party scored an upset victory yesterday against Premier Jean Lesage’s Liberal Party in the Quebec provincial elections, United Press International reported. The National Union, under its party leader, Mr Daniel Johnson, won 55 seats in the 108-seat Provincial House, while the Liberals lost their majority, registering only 51 seats. Two seats went to Independent candidates. The election, which could signal far-reaching changes in Canadian politics, see-saw-ed between the two major parties all last night until the National Union finally went into the lead near midnight.
