NELSON WINS

(From Our Own Reporter) WESTPORT, June 6.

Nelson beat Buller in the representative Rugby match at Westport yesterday, 14-6. The standard of play was poor, with the Buller backs ineffective except for the halfback M. Geddes and the fullback, C. Tinetti. In the first half the game was uneventful, but the Nelson backs were more versatile in the second spell. M. Delany, the Nelson full-back, scored 11 of his side’s 14 points—a try, one conversion, a goal from a mark, and one from a penalty. The other points for Nelson came from a try by R. Adams. Tinetti kicked two goals from penalties for Buller. In the Buller forwards, J. Shaw, T. Craddock, K. Pratt, and F. Rogers played good football, but none was better than F. Fitzsimmons, of Nelson, who was well supported in the lineouts by R. Dickson. J. Clarke and R. Scadden played solidly in the Nelson pack.
