Obituary
MR F. A. CLARKE (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 6. A former editor of the “Auckland Star,” Mr Frederick A. Clarke, died yesterday aged 88. He joined the "Auckland Star” as a reporter in .1897 and became one of the paper’s two sub-editors under the editorship of Dr. T. W. Leys.
He was also Auckland agent for the Press Association. He became editor in 1929 and later managing-editor, with direction of the company’s other publications as well.
He retired in September, 1945.
He was manager of the “Christchurch Star” and "Christchurch Times” for a period, 35 years ago.
