ANCIENT SITES

Archaeologists

Meet

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 6.

The New Zealand Archaeological Association, which ended its annual three-day meeting in Wellington today, considers that there are gaps in the law for the protection of and salvage from archaeological sites. A spokesman said the association’s executive would make a study with a view to framing submissions to the Government.

The meeting considered that there should be a Government-appointed archaeologist to work on a programme for the commercial development of a site that might contain items of historic importance.
