Liberals In Lead (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MONTREAL, June 6. Premier Jean Le Sage's Liberal Administration jumped off to a quick start over its National Union opposition in first returns from Quebec’s provincial elections today. United Press International reported. Thirty minutes after the polls closed at 8 p.m., officials announced the Liberals ahead in 34 districts with 53 per cent of the total vote and National Union candidates leading in 31 districts with 42 per cent of the ballots.

The election will determine the composition of the Lower House in Quebec Province, the centre of Canada's French-speaking population.
