WAGE RISES GRANTED
Boilermakers’ Award (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 10. Increases ranging from 6|d to 7ld an hour in the minimum wage rate are contained in an award for boilermakers released today by the Arbitration Court. The minimum wage for boilermakers is now 8s 2Jd an hour, for those with the trade certificate in boilermaking 8s Bijd, and for those with the advanced trade certificate 9s o|d. An extra 2jd an hour is payable to workers engaged in repair work on board ships. Increases ranging from 2s 7d to 15s 2d a week in the minimum wage rates are provided for in an award for motion picture operators. The highest rate, for operators employed in continuous picture shows or shows giving two screenings a day is now £l7 3s 9d, for workers in theatres showing eight screenings a week, £l4 14s, and for workers in theatres with seven screenings a week, £l2 16s Bd. The rate for casual workers has been increased by IJd to 9s 9d an hour. The rate for assistant operators is now £6 10s for those under 18 to £l3 14s 2d for adults.
