BEER PRICE INQUIRY

WELLINGTON, March 11.
An alleged agreement of the Hotel Association of New Zealand, on increases in the prices of beer and spirits sold by hotels, will be investigated by the Trade Practices and Prices Commission.
The commission will also inquire into an alleged agreement of the Brewers’ Association on increases in the price of beer sold by them. The inquiries will begin at Wellington on March 22.
The commission has called for persons and organisations wishing to give evidence to advise the commission’s secretary of the organisation they represent (if any) and the general nature of the evidence they wish to produce.
