At this time it is expected that the 6400 will have at least 32K words of central memory. 75 million characters of fast-access disc store, 6 magnetic tape units, two high-speed printers, one plotter, two highspeed card readers and one card punch. It is hoped to add to this equipment and to the ancillary equipment in the Department in the near future. THE SENIOR PROGRAMMER will be in charge of a group , of several programmers and will be responsible for providing general programming and system support to University research and service projects. He will also be involved in the design and development of programme systems and languages for the 6400, CIRRUS and such i other equipment as may become i available. An appropriate • degree wth several years of relevant practical computing and programming experience is desirable. THE COMPUTER MANAGER will be responsible for the operation and scheduling of the C.D.C. 6400/CIRRUS configuration and for the training of staff to operate this equipment. An applicant should have an appopriate degree or diploma and several years of relevant experience.
