The chief of the United States Immigration Service in New York has denied a report that the British model Jean Shrimpton had been refused a permit to work in the United States.

Mr Peter Esperdy said that Miss Shrimpton had not requested a work permit She had arrived in New York on an ordinary visitor’s visa.
