TIES WITH N.Z.

Labour Party Policy

(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright)

LONDON, Mar. 10.

Britain’s Labour Government is concerned with protecting her Commonwealth ties, particularly those with Australia and New Zealand, in relation to South-east Asian defence and entry into the Common Market, according to Government sources. Labour’s views on the future Britisih-Commonwealth partnership in Europe and the Far East were made known as the country geared itself for the General Election at the end of this month.

They also followed the party’s election manifesto in which an issue was made of Common Market entry. The manifesto said Britain should be prepared to enter the E.E.C. “provided essential British and Commonwealth interests are safeguarded.”
