M. HOLDINGS PURCHASE
Franchise For Skoda, Alvis

AUCKLAND, March 11. Motor Holdings, Ltd., Auckland-based Volkswagen group, has acquired the New Zealand franchise for Skoda and Alvis vehicles, directors have announced.
The company is already assembling Skoda vehicles in its Otahuhu plant. It also builds Fiats and Studebakers, besides the VW range. The franchise was obtained by the acquisition of Andrews Motors, Ltd., Motor Lines. Ltd., and Motor Lines Wholesale, Ltd., Palmerston North group of family-owned companies established in 1937. This group holds the franchise for both the importation and distribution of Skoda and Alvis. Consideration in the deal was an undisclosed amount of cash, Motor Holdings directors say.
Guthrie Bowren.— Steady 3) per cent Interim ordinary dividend is payable by Guthrie Bowron and Company, Ltd., Dunedin-based paint and wallpaper merchants, on April 7: ex dividend March 29. Total dividend last year was 8 per cent.—(P.A.).
