SUSPECTED POLIO
Clinical Test Casts Doubt
The 16-year-old Ashburton boy who was suspected of having poliomyelitis was now thought to have another paralysing disease called polyneuritis, said Dr. R. C. S. Dick, medical superintendent of the Princess Margaret Hospital, yesterday. Dr. Dick said no result had yet been obtained from the specimens sent to Wellington for analysis, but judging by clinical tests, he did not appear to have poliomyelitis. “He is improving,” said Dr. Dick, "and his outlook is very good.”
