The Kiwi carried on, unheeding, And waved that curious Banner reading WE STILL PROTEST! ‘Beware the Frown of French Displeasure! ‘Beware the offensive Trading Measure!’ A Tear stood in the Kiwi’s Eye, But still he held that Banner high, WE STILL PROTEST! ‘When Britain or America did It, ‘Either You felt no Qualm or hid It!’ Banner in Beak, that stubborn Bird Pressed on, with Slogan still unblurred WE STILL PROTEST! ALL nuclear Testing wrongs Mankind, The Tests to come, the Tests behind. Late in the Day the Kiwi bore That Banner for Us and, what’s More, WE STILL PROTEST!.... After the Tests were done and past, After the Fall-out and the Blast, The Kiwi, featherless and weak. Was found, still grasping in its Beak Legible, if contaminated The Banner that reiterated, WE STILL PROTEST!
