CATCHMENT PROPOSAL
No Decisions
No decisions were made at a meeting between representatives of Wadpara and Cheviot county councils and the Soil Conservation Council in Christchurch yesterday. Mr A. E. Clark, chairman of the Soil Conservation Council, said after the meeting that the possibility of Waipara, Cheviot and Amuri counties joining the North Canterbury Catchment Board district was discussed, but the meeting was simply an exchange of information.
“We discussed it in genera) terms,” said Mr Clark. "The next step is for the local bodies to discuss it among themselves."
The suggestion that North Canterbury counties should join the board’s area was made by the Local Government Commission last year.
