Record Time By Juniors
(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON. Two New Zealand records were broken during the opening session of the national junior athletics championships at Hamilton yesterday. D. Marshall-Inman (Waikato) carved more than 17sec off the 3000 metres steeplechase mark, when he ran the distance in 9min 20.6 sec. C. Morris (Waikato), who was second, held the previous record at 9min 37.8 sec. Then, the Canterbury team —C. Baker, R. Ward. R. Jones and A. Tweedie—knocked half a second off the seven-year-old mark in the 4 x 100 yards relay. The previous best. 43.25ec, was set by a Wellington team in 1959.
