WON HOLIDAY INAUSTRALIA
A 13-year-oid Christchurch schoolboy who played truant from cadet training to attend a "Jet to Australia” quiz show won the first prize—a luxury holiday for two in Australia.
He is Timothy Langer, the youngest of the 10 finalists to participate in the quiz sponsored by the organisers of “Australia Week” in Christchurch. The quiz, compered by Murray Forgie. of 3ZB, was w’atched by about 500 persons.
Timothy said he had no special knowledge of Australia, but was interested in travel and geography. Of the 10 questions put to each of the six finalists he failed to answer correctly only three. He said he would probably take his prize during the May school holiday. “I’ll take one of my parents, I presume, unless they both want to go and then we’ll buy an extra ticket.”
Timothy comes from Stratford-on-Avon and has lived in New Zealand for eight years. He has never won a prize before. The prize entitles Timothy to two tickets on a tour which includes Christchurch-Sydney-Christchurch travel byAir New Zealand. Sydney tp Coolangatta by Ansett A.N.A.. Coolangatta to Sydney by T.A.A., 10 days on the Gold
Coast with accommodation at Lennon’s Broad Beach Hotel and the personal use for five days of a brand new car. He is also entitled to be the guest of Ansett-Pioneer on any one of their 10 scenic tours, and he will take a pleasure cruise to Stradbrooke Island.
One gift which Timothy is certain to pass up is a Gold Coast fashion bikini by Paula Stafford.
