Many South African golf clubs had boxes into which players could drop balls for Rhodesian sportsmen, said the South African Consul-General (Mr A. J. Oxley). Mr Oxley said this was one illustration of the sympathy felt by many South Africans for the people of Rhodesia.

Rhodesia was short of golf balls.
