PROFIT LIFT BY ANSETT

Directors Are Cautious f.V.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) MELBOURNE. March 9. Directors of Ansett Transport Industries have reported increases in consolidated revenue and profits in the six months to January 1. Consolidated revenue in the latest period rose by 18.8 per cent from 45,288,906 dollars to 53,796,265 dollars. Directors say that although the growth in the company’s revenue has been maintained at a rate comparable with previous years, there have been indications in the last few weeks that this growth has now substantially disappeared. They add: “In view of the present indicated trends the directors are taking steps to reduce capacity in the airline operations and to minimise costs in other directions.” Unchanged interim ordinary dividend of 5 per cent will be paid on April 30, maintaining the well-estab-lished 10 per cent annual rate.
