Wrestling’s No. 1
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The Wellington lightweight champion, A. Greig, has been named New Zealand's top wrestling nomination for the Jamaiean Empire Games in August This was announced yesterday by Mr L. W. Woods, chairman of the New Zealand Amateur Wrestling Union. Greig, a Waikanae farmer, represented New Zealand on the tour of India two years ago and also at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 1964.
The six-man team, half of whom are from Wellington, Is (in order of nomination): Greig (light-weight); N. Scott (Walpapara), feather-weight; D. Halford (Central Districts), welter-weight; W. Nesbit (Wellington). bantamweight; J. Harris (Wellington), light heavyweight; J. Mudgeway (Central District), flyweight. Mr B. E. Courtneay, of Auckland, has been nominated as section manager.
