Cricket Game Drawn
Christchurch Boys l ' High School and Waitaki Boys’ High School drew their annual cricket match, which ended at Waitaki yesterday. Fortunes fluctuated throughout the two days, but neither side was able to force a decision.
Waitaki had lost six wickets for 44 runs at stumps on the first day, in reply to Christchurch’s 181, and owed much to Wethey’s 41 in 138 minutes in scoring 116. Lewis captured four for 34 with his legbreaks.
Christchurch made a shaky start, but recovered to 116 for nine declared after losing two wickets for two runs. Cand'lisih came to the rescue with 26 runs and added 44 runs with Anderson (37).
Taylor, a left-arm mediumpace bowler, took five for 45, giving him a match analysis of 11 for 112.
Left to score 170 runs In 181 minutes to win, Waitaki made 119 for four. Grimmer scoring 41 and Manson 37 not out.
Christchurch won the second XI match by six wickets. Scores were: Waitaki 208 and 89; Christchurch 191 and 105/4.
Waitaki won the tennis competition, the first time ever against Christchurch, 12-9.
