COMMUNISTS COMPLAIN
U.K. Election Campaign (Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, Mar. 10. The British Communist Party is waiting to hear if it can meet the chief whips of the three parties in Parliament to discuss the five minutes’ radio and television time allocated to it for the election campaign. The request was made last week by Mr John Gollan, the party’s general secretary, when he met the Government chief whip, Mr Edward Short, in the House of Commons. A spokesman said: “The five minutes allocated to us is unreasonable. No party can explain its policy in five minutes. We are not being unreasonable when we ask for 10 minutes.” So far the party’s constituency associations have adopted 53 candidates to contest the election on March 31.
