Tug Tows Pipes

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 9. The first of a series of giant concrete pipe rafts for Marsden Point left Mechanics Bay, Auckland, this morning towed by the tug Sea Toiler. The four pipes in the raft, which measures 120 ft by 40ft and weighs about 480 tons, will form part of the watercondensing inlet and outlet to the turbines at the oil-fired power station being built at Marsden Point. Twenty-three more fourpipe rafts and two rafts with only two pipes will be towed to Marsden Point.
