Death By Asphyxia
(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, March 9.
Christopher Brian Thomas, a schoolteacher, of Christchurch, died as a result of asphyxia through drowning in the upper reaches of the Taramakau river on April 3 last year, the District Coroner (Mr R. A. Kay, J.P.) held at an inquest. The evidence of Constable J. B. Bromwell, of Otira, who was a member of the party which recovered the body was the last given. Thomas was a member of a tramping party which had attempted to cross the headwaters of the Taramakau river, when it was in flood.
