Six identical tenders for the supply of bulk bitumen to the Auckland City Council provided “an obvious example of ring tendering,” the Mayor (Dr. R. G. McElroy ) told a meeting of the council tonight He moved that the tenders be referred to the works committee and suggested they might be referred to the Trade Practices Commission. However, on the suggestion of the committee’s chairman, Mr H. G. Beechey, it was decided that the committee report back to the council.
