A RURAL DISTRICT
I Mayfield is a rural area, i with a population of 199, 20 I miles inland from Ashburton. The average size of Mayfield farms is more than 1000 acres. This compares with the average size of a holding in the whole of the Ashburton County (800 acres). The population and scattered nature of the district make the Mayfield Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s show one of the best achievements in Canterbury as most other rural shows have a greater population and more concentrated farming from which to draw entries. In standard, the Mayfield
I show compares favourably ■ with any other district show in the South Island. • Judges for the show are:i. ! Romney’ rams, Mr W. G. Kennedy (Bayswater); Romney ewes, Mr P.
